‘New Moon’ Wins Big at MTV Movie Awards - What Did You Think?

In case you’ve been living under a rock (and there’s nothing wrong with that; I know of some nice rocks out there), The MTV Movie Awards took place last night, and everyone (and anyone) who has a movie coming out this summer was in attendance, ready to party. Most notably in attendance was the cast of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, or, more specifically, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

And it was a good thing they were there, too, since – surprise! -- New Moon turned out to be the big winner of the evening, taking home awards for Best Movie, Best Male Performance (Robert Pattinson), Global Superstar (Robert Pattinson), Best Kiss (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson) and Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart). So, yeah, the night kinda belonged to those vampires and werewolves from Forks, Washington, but those weren’t the only exciting things to happen during a show that featured more F-Bombs than movie stars.

A few of the other major highlights included host Aziz Ansari’s hilarious opening monologue criticizing the current crop of 3D movies, as well as his R. Kelly Avatar-inspired music video about halfway through. Sandra Bullock made a big public comeback by accepting the Generation Award while making out with Scarlett Johansson during her speech. Random? Yes. But we’re not complaining.

Tom Cruise also made a couple of appearances as Les Grossman, the maniacal movie executive character he portrayed in Tropic Thunder. In fact, Cruise was so blown away by the reception the character received that he told EOnline that he’s currently working on a feature film based on Grossman. Would you watch an entire film featuring Cruise’s foul-mouthed character, or do you think he’s a little played-out by now?
