I'll admit that when Jamie Foxx' name first started getting bandied about as the new lead in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming Western, Django Unchained, I scoffed a bit.  Not because I think Foxx is a bad actor, but because at the time it seemed like the Tarantino rumor mill was just churning through a predictable list of strong black actors.  However, it looks like in this case the rumor ended up being a reality: Deadline is reporting that Tarantino and The Weinstein Company have indeed just offered the lead role to Foxx.

Now, as of this writing Foxx hasn't actually accepted the role, but assuming contract negotiations don't stall (and it's likely they won't as it's not like Foxx has high profile gigs like this knocking on the door every day, even with an Oscar under his belt), he will be Django, a Mississippi slave liberated by a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) who wants to take down the the plantation owner (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and rescue his wife from said plantation owner's awful sex club.  Yep, sounds like a Tarantino movie.
